Montezuma Falls walk

Montezuma Falls walk

This coming Sunday (February 14) we have a walk planned to Montezuma Falls. It is an easy 3-5 hours walk on mostly level ground. No great fitness is required for this walk, though you do need waterproof footwear as the track is often soggy underfoot. Long range weather forecasts are currently showing scattered cloud and a high of about 21c for the day. This means that anybody intending to go on this walk should bring something warm to wear. About 98% of the track is shaded and never gets sun, so is cool on even the hottest of days. On days with weather as predicted it can get quite chilly. With showers predicted for a couple of days beforehand there should be lots of small mushrooms and other fungi, so perfect for those who like macro photography. Currently there are four people who are definitely in for this wander, with another two maybe's. If you are planning on being on the west coast next weekend this is a great walk to take and all are welcome to join us. Currently the plan is to meet at the start of the track in the parking area between 11-11.30am. Any changes to plans will be announced here, so it would be wise to check this topic on Saturday. All welcome, though if you do intend joining us, please leave a message here so that we know to expect you. For details of how to get there see this post |

Hi again all. This really is a fun project. I love getting out and about with the camera, even if it is just around Rosebery. I'm looking forward to completing another 52 weeks of photos for you all to see. WEEK 1 This week has been spent in quite a few different places, so it was definitely hard to choose just one photo. I have been taking Anna to Queenstown, and on most trips we stopped somewhere different to take shots. This week will showcase a few spots between Rosebery and Queenstown. Enjoy and have a great week |

Seeing as though we have a couple of members here thinking of moving to Queenstown, I thought it might be handy to record my transition as I move into the town myself. Will update this post after I have actually made the move and become more aware of things around town. Yesterday I had to go down to the house there so Telstra could connect my phone. Whilst waiting for them I took a few shots from my front verandah. This image below is made up of 26 images stitched together, and shows part of the view I have from there. Photoshop had a few problems getting everything lined up in this shot, but it is still useable. Click on the image below, and then again on the image that appears in a new window to get it at full size (much reduced from the original) but a warning to dial up users, this image is just under 3 Mb even at the reduced size. |
