A very interesting and varied selection of images. I chose Cascading Stream; a quintessentially Tasmanian rainforest image taken in what we think of as the Dombrovkis style, i.e. slow exposure to enhance the water movement. It makes me yearn to be in the bush!
I also particularly enjoyed Sunset over Lake Myrtle, Untitled 2 and Beam Me Up.
(Don't think I should vote for my own entry, as it doesn't seem ethical, even if politicians do!)

The votes are in and we have our first winner of the Real Tasmania Cup. The winning entry is "Spherical Arch". If you are the owner of this image, congratulations, we will be in touch later on today to make arrangements to ensure your prize is on its way to you.

Full details of the owner of the winning image and the other great shots submitted for this competition will also be revealed later today. (Why not now?????..... because it is late, I am tired, and I feel nasty and want to make you all wait Bwahahahahahah LMAO.gif )

Congratulations Serrator yay.gif & also to all who entered.

The Real Tasmania Cup will soon be on its way to your American home.

Some great entries this week. I particularly liked the subtlety of Sim's sunset entry. Let's hope we have a bigger bunch of entries for the current competition.

Please note there will be a couple of rule changes that will apply as of this month. A new rules post will be created sometime today.

Congrats Serrator, it was an awesome image. The reflections and colours were good.

The entries in this months comp were excellent. I had a tough choice picking a winner myself.

Watermans Dock - Marks. I like the reflections in this image as well. The only thing I don't like about this image is the blown out sky.

London Lakes - Derridale. Looking at your image makes me want to get out in the bush. Very nice shot.

Sunset over Lkae Myrtle - breggs. This image brings back thoughts of our camping trip around Tassie. I like the reflection of the sun on the water.

Cascading Stream - Strange Anna. Excellent shot. I know it is hard to get the water to blur like that and you pulled it off really nicely.

Untitled1- filterthis. Very nice shot of this lake. I like the tree in the foreground and the cloud coming over the mountain. Where is this lake?

Near Stanley - Martin. It looks like you had a very still morning/afternoon for this shot. I really like the mirrored reflection of the bank and trees.

Suburban Sunset with lenticular Cloud - Chris. Beautiful colours and shapes in this shot. I actually learnt something new from this shot, thank you.

Untitled 2 - Tassie Sim. Subtle and beautiful, very nice shot.

A day at the Beach - justcoop. Looks like Veda had a fun day.

Beam Me Up - Rehab is for quitters. Interesting shot but nobody warned me about the need for sunglasses, the glare is blinding LMAO.gif

Flowing Freely - Margie. This is the best shot I have taken of these falls. My favourite part of it is the small fall just off the main fall on the right.

Well done to all - they are some really good photos - and congratulations serrator.
I am happy to respond to Hummingbird's request.
I put in "Sunset over Lake Myrtle". This is located in the expanded Walls of Jerusalem Nat Pk - fairly close to the Cradle Mt - Lake St Clair park boundary.
It was in Jan this year and was our first visit to Tasmania specifically to bushwalk with our children and this particular walk was the first leg. It was a very steep walk on a very hot day so we were glad to stop and have a swim at Lake Myrtle before setting up camp on a delightful natural grass (think of a very well maintained lawn) just next to the Lake. The kids thought the lake was a bit too cold, but I thought it was perfect for the day.
We then relaxed and slowly watched the afternoon pass with the lighting and colours all changing as the sun got lower and was then setting and this is one of my photos as it was giving its last light before disappearing behind Cathedral Mountain.
The next morning was a complete contrast with the lake mirror smooth and a bank of low level cloud covering the sky and swirling around Mt Rogoona as it rises straight up on one side of the lake.
The cloud eventually burnt off and we managed to get to the top of Mt Rogoona for a vista of mountains and lakes in every direction. You can see a bit more of this trip at http://bushwalk-tasmania.com/forum/viewtop...p?f=9&t=733

Sounds like you had a great trip there breggs, thank you for sharing the info with us.

My shot was taken at a local stream, about a quarter of the way up Mt Black. This is the source of water for the town of Rosebery, and we have visited here many times before. This time, however, we decided to explore a little downstream of the main access. After following a couple of animal tracks down the slippery banks we found this rather nice little spot where the water cascades down a number of rocky ledges.

The shot was taken using a 2 second exposure to achieve the water blur effect, though I would have liked to tone the light down a little before posting it, especially in the ferns at the top of the image.

Congrats Serrator on a most deserving win. All who responded to the call can give yourselves a pat on the back as well. Some great snaps there and i dare say competition will be fiercer next month.
My snap was taken in Bunbury WA. It was a pic that wasn't really 'set-up' at all, more of a 'wow, that was pretty cool' after we printed it out.

I'm arriving in Tas this weekend for a quick 5 day trip so i'll be sure to enter another pic in the near future.

Again Congrats and see y'all at the voting booth wink.gif

Thanks much guys!!

I just got back from a trip to Colorado and backpacking around some of the mountains at around 12,000' elevation...I am getting too old for that too!! smile.gif Anyway when I got home there set my new mug...and I might add a really nice big mug!! I will do a full report as requested by Anna/Margie this week and post a few pics of the mug as I proudly show it off.

As far as my entry it is located in St. Louis Missouri. It is a 630' tall stainless steel arch that is a symbol of the gateway to the west here in the US. You can ride an elevator that will take you up to the top for a grand view. We live about a hundred miles from St. Louis and were there on a company picnic so we decided to go and see the arch as well.

Great images all around and will be looking forward to this month's voting.
