This month we are changing our photo competition and giving each member the chance to win the personalised trophy cup. Information, images, and description of the cup can be found in this thread here. It is a great prize, and entry is completely free.

There are some changes to the way entries are lodged, and the rules have been modified, so read these instructions carefully.

All entries remain the property of the owner. You agree to allow us to post a copy of your entry here, and in the gallery, but we ask no further reproduction permission. You retain full rights to your entry.

RULES :
  • All entries must be entirely your own work. Do not submit entries that breach the copyright of others.
  • Each member may submit one image only for consideration. The first entry received will be counted, any further entries will be ignored.
  • The term "photo" is a broad one and all types of image may be submitted, provided the entry is entirely your own work. Scrapbooking, photo manipulations, etc, are all eligible to be entered.
  • Entries must be submitted in accordance with the submission guidelines below, and prior to the deadline of midnight 30th June 2008. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • The decision of the members will be final in deciding the winner of this competition.
  • Your entry must not be posted anywhere else in this site prior to the end of voting.
How to submit an entry :
  • Give your entry a short title. This title will be used to refer to your entry in the voting at the end of the month.
  • Send your entry via PM to me (Strange Anna) before the end of the month.
  • Make sure that I know this is an image for entry into the competition when you send the PM. I sometimes have images sent to me by members who may not want them published elsewhere, so I cannot be expected to know that a random image PM'd to me is for entry unless you specify this in your PM
  • Make sure your entry is sent to me before the end of the month.
Voting :
  • At the end of the month I will open a new thread which will contain all entries received before the deadline.
  • A poll will be attached listing the entry titles so that members may indicate their choice through a vote.
  • Voting will be open for a period of one week after the thread is created.
  • The winner will be the entry that receives the most votes before the close of voting.
  • In the event of a tie a further tiebreak vote will run for another week after the close of the first vote.
Special Rules Relating to Voting :
  • Entrants are not permitted to troll for votes. This means you cannot message other members, or post anywhere else, in any other website, a message seeking votes for your image.
  • Entrants are not permitted to reveal to others the identity of the image they have posted to the competition. The selection of the winning entry should be on the merits of the entry, thus the identity of the owner of the images should be kept secret until after the voting has closed.
  • Any entrant found in breach of these, or any other rules, will have their entry disqualified.
  • Members are encouraged to report possible breaches of these rules.
Images do not have to be captured within Tasmania, we will accept any entry from anywhere in the world and residents of all continents are equally eligible to win the prize. If we can ship the prize to you, you are eligible to win.

Once the voting has been closed the identities of the owners of each entry will be posted.

If you have any questions, please post them here. Good luck to all, let's see what you have.

Does this mean all entries will be entered annomausley to make the competition more intreging as to who the entries belong to so no-one can discriminate to any degree. Like there is quite a good freindship that has been gathering through the group.

Yeah, something like that Coop. We want people to vote on the photo, not because of friendship.

You have to PM Strange Anna with the image, as well as a Title for the image.

To send me a private message, hold your mouse over my name to the left of this (or any of my) post(s). A box will appear within a couple of seconds, click that box to open it, select the "Send Message" option. This will open the message area, idebtical to making a post in the forum. Add your photo as an attachment and you are done.

Make sure you include the title for your photo

Anna, Margie, could we submit something that we have watermarked / post-processed? I understand some of us prefer to do a bit of work on the pictures taken.

Thanks very much wink.gif

Post processing no problem. Could you supply a bit more info on what you mean about watermarking? Basically ask yourself...is it going to distract from the finished product.

Regarding the above advice, I had suggested to Margie she said that about the watermarking, as I thought the question related to the other competition we have running. Watermarking is no problem at all, but the suggested question should remain, as if it does detract from the overall image, this could shy potential votes away.

The June Competition is now closed for voting. Entries for the July competition are now open, and should be sent to me as an attachment via Personal Message before July 31.
