We found this plover in a small park in Rosebery. It's mate was not too far away. I really don't like these birds but they do make for good photography.
To the completely anal bird Tasmanian enthusiast, the correct name is Masked Lapwing. To New Zealanders, it's a Spurwinged Plover. When i started working at a wetland amongst a whole host of twitchers, I nearly had my head bitten off for not making this distinction :)To the rest of us who spend our time dodging these buggers near any bit of flat grass during their nesting season, they're just plovers. Nice shot.
