This is just something i wanted to ask out of curiousity - have you noticed any changes in the weather (in Tasmania) over the last few years or has it reasonably stayed the same? I ask this as I have noticed say for example my parent's who live in SA over the last couple of years their summer's seem to be longer and higher in temps?? Anyway just curiousPosted Image

Apparently this summer was officially two degrees hotter than any other summer in recorded history in Tasmania. Hobart had the longest consecutive run of mild days (days where the temp reached at least 17) in history (99 days). Here in the west it was incredibly dry this year and much hotter than it has been in the past 4 summers that we have been here for.

A number of places we went wandering through recently have never been as dry as they have been this year. The rains have finally come in the past couple of weeks, but we are still getting double digit overnight temperatures, which is most unusual at this time of year. This is also the first summer I have spent in the west where the peaks have not been snow capped at least once or twice.

Weather is a cyclical thing and so we should expect some years to be warmer than others, but a lot of records fell in Tasmania this year, which suggests that it has been a very different kind of year for us. I certainly do not like those days that get up over 40 and this is my first year in Tassie to feel those temps.

I would agree about the weather. It is extremely mild for this time of year. I think the summer nights were more like I remember from my childhood, too hot to sleep.
I hope the weather continues or we will be freezing our hinies off at the caravan park when we move out of the house.

Much easier to warm a caravan, isn't it Tess, smaller space? It will be interesting to see what the weather does.
