Great shots Cascade. I find those little things keep moving around too fast to capture.

well done mate, the little fellers can become relatively tame if enough patience is used, obviously you have that, we enticed a little blue, not dissimilar to the one photographed, onto my wifes finger, it took two days and a lot of scraps and patience but the little bird came over, that was up in quorn at the gorge!, I congratulate you on a couple of great shots, and Shane I am conversant in wren language and that is not very nice!!

absolutely, but you are blessed indeed to simply be granted a viewing of these little blokes, I'm very much a "tree hugger" my soul soars at the very sight of a butterfly or new life, a lot of folks either dont see these things or dont want to see them, for these people I feel enormous sorrow!

Totally agree Dave. What is the world coming too when one cannot or will not enjoy the pleasures of nature? there's nothing like watching the ants :)

so delicate, so tiny, I've seen these little fellers prancing around in the heavy frost up north , with overnight temps of -2 and wondered how the hell did they survive the night! the heat loss in such a tiny body would be ferocious!

I used to breed Australian native birds, had 120 pair of parrots at one stage it was my livelihood, I also had a large aviary full of finches, native and foreign now they were my passion, I would be amazed at the intelligence of some of these little fellers, I had a couple of pair of African fire finches that would let me know if one of the young fell out of the nest for instance

I also had around 20 pair of quail, mostly button, (used to clean up the spilt grain off the floor of the aviary's, one pair to every aviary) these were so trusting, I had a compost pile in the corner of the large finch aviary that I would turn over every other day and these little things would be all over me and between my legs grabbing the worms and grubs, it was a highlight of my day to sit in and be so readily accepted as just another tree

I told you I was a died in the wool tree hugger!

but a great shot of a terrific little survivor!

Gorgeous shot Cascade.

Nice story Dave. I think I may have been a little tempted with those quail though.
