Rubbish being left behind is a bugbear of mine, and something I often rant about. Cannot understand why people refuse to take the rubbish they brought in back out with them.
If the book you mention is the guide to free camping in Tasmania, that book is way out of date and contains some very poor details and maps. The number of errors in that book was one of the driving forces behind getting this website off the ground.

its was the new boiling billy publication Camping Guide to Tasmania the books "how to get there, and site explanation" was excellent... except for the rubbish issue... which maybe has not been a problem in the past... but going by the graffiti on the trees trail bike riders maybe the problem. it also seems strange that forestry tasmania have these sites listed for tourists, do you know if forestry tasmania ever clean up the sites that they advertise as "tourist spots". its a real shame as there was even a small white sandy beach in one spot.

It is a rule of entry into places like this that you take rubbish away, but unfortunately many don't. I have seen family groups gather for a weekend, bringing a number of utes and other large vehicles with them, to leave and forget huge piles of rubbish they brought. The average person can often forget to look after places beyond where they live.

Noticed lots of kids with bikes and buggies at the Strahan camping area, though that place can be very busy during major holidays. Trial harbour has lots of places to explore with trail bikes or buggies, as does Granville Harbour, both on the west coast.

Thanks for that. i am hoping that they will not close down Lake Repulse as it is a great place to camp.
