The day that God invented Rugby League he didn't do anything else but sit around and feel good.
Jack Gibson

Whilst that game where you score even when you miss tends to dominate the sporting world here in Tasmania, there is a steadily growing Rugby league influence starting to take over the summer sporting calendar. Yes, I know playing league in summer may seem strange, but our climate makes it possible, and any sensible person does not go out training at night in winter down here.

The Tasmanian Rugby League currently runs a small competition around Hobart with four, maybe five teams lining up later this year to do battle on the field. There is also discussion around the idea of a Tasmanian representative side competing against mainland teams. Launceston, Devonport, and Burnie are also looking at producing their own competitions for the coming summer.

The league is currently looking for those interested in getting involved at all levels, players, coaches, referees, first aid, volunteers, etc. If you are interested in getting behind this great game, please contact Buster. You can email him through this link

The season start is around November, so there is still time to consider expanding the competition if there are enough people interested in playing and forming a team. This is a professionally run competition and is organised and run under the Australian Rugby League.

The Tasmanian Rugby League will soon have its own website, as soon as I can get it up and running to the satisfaction of all concerned. In the meantime, email Buster and get involved.
The secret to getting what you want, is to want what you need
