I just placed my order for the Canon 10-22mm EF-S USM super wide angle lens right this minute, so I guess in 6 months I will receive it!,....... well in about a week I guess! I purchased it new with a hood, lens caps, and a Hoya CPL polarising filter, all up including $62 postage it came to $983.69, the filter and cap were a half price special for buying the lens

what do you reckon, ripped off or reasonable price!, starting to chase down a Canon EF or EF-S 100mm USM Macro now! if this mob delivers on time then I will buy from them again!, now begins the waiting game!

Sounds like a nice lens Dave. Quick search showed the lens for $825. Your postage cost seems a tad high, but as long as you enjoy the lens I always feel the price was worth it.

You are going to have to start showing off more of your pics Dave ;)

yes I was surprised at the postage but it is insured so I guess it is what it is! and i promise I will post piccys for you!

the way it worked out was
............................ lens $860
...........................lens cap $5
.........................lens hood $5
Hoya CPL Polarising filter $51.69
........................insurance $10
...........................postage $62

all the extra's were a "special" price if bought at time of the lens purchase

the actual lens was, I thought, reasonable but the "extras" add up, I found a cheaper lens but others had trouble with that company! I wont name names but if anyone wishes to PM me I will tell them who had the problems with delivery and who I bought off!

there are a couple on Ebay, secondhand, that I thought about but a lens is such a delicate thing that who knows what may have befallen it before I get my grubby mits on it, then there are the "grey market" ones basically without warranty, not sure about those, heard some stories! probably the same lens and are fine but I dont want to chance it

the price for the EF USM 100mm dedicated macro is $645 through the same company, I will buy extras such as the hood and caps but not sure about the filter! then of course the freight! and insurance, I think I would rather buy new with a warranty so I know what I'm getting, work has picked up crazily so I can "skim" a bit before it gets into the hands of the minister for all things joyful,

I am looking at a few light rings for Macro so they will be my next purchase after the macro lens, not sure whether to go ring or twin/triple flash??? then there are these that intrigue me http://www.youtube.c...cro light&aq=3m

I am not sure of my next lens, I will have to wait a bit for that but it will be a big zoom I think for wildlife photography, gotta do some research on that, price looks to be around the $5 - $7 gorillas, wont be able to hide that so I will have to save! but as I say I need advice on that one! years down the track though, (maybe... LOL!!) but we will see!

so there is much I am not sure about and much to learn but I am in no hurry!
