Hey Mick and Bec here, like really here, were in Queenstown right now in the Library. We got here monday and stayed at the caravan park for a couple of nights. We are going for a bit of a drive around the area today to try and find a house to rent or somewhere we can hole up for a few weeks while we find one as we need to get the kids back into school asap. If we cannot find a house to rent pretty well straight away, does anybody know of a caravan park or something similar that is a good place we could hole up for a bit ? (as the one here cost us a bit more than we would like)

Apart from that, we are so happy to be finally here, we just bit the bullet and did it. We are heading off to Zeehan and Roseberry today just for a look, and will more than likely find somewhere to stay over that way tonight and give ourselves the next couple of days and the weekend to hunt down a place. There seems to be plenty of empty houses around here so we are crossing our fingers. We sold our better car and drove our older 90's model Landrover over here and it never missed a beat, though it did cost us a small fortune in fuel.

Anyway people, its awesome to be finally here, we are still pinching ourselves but we better go and feed the kids, we will try and check the forum later today, if not tomorrow.

Thanks for everything and speak (type) soon.

Hi Mick and welcome to Tassie and Queenstown. Wish you had mentioned you was here earlier as you have been staying within spitting distance of Shane's place.

Good luck with your search. I know of one place in Rosebery that might allow pets, (the owner would want an extra $10 per week to allow it making the rental 130 p/w for a 3 b/r house), but there are things you should know about the house before considering it, so if you PM me your mobile I can talk you through it.

Best of luck. Will be going into town later today and will ask around about the cheapest places to stay locally.

For cheap accomm, check out the Mountain View motel on the way into town, or the guest house/ backpacker place opposite the hospital may be willing to do a good deal on longer term stay. Apparently that place has had people actually living there on very cheap rates.(both Queenstown)

bugger, always the way. we found a place in Zeehan for now, its right near the school so it suits us and it was no hassle so we took it. And yeah we would of walked passed your house more than once, if you happened to notice one sexy woman, three feral kids and one extremely ugly man walk by it would of been us :D Bec (who I will get to post and say hi later) absolutely loves it here, even our eldest (she started school today) made instant friends and took off with a couple of them down the park. We have cruised around Qeenstown, Zeehan and Roseberry and like I say, we fluked a house in Zeehan (it wont be permanent) but it will suffice until we get our bearings and re-save some money as we went through a bit of it (I did drink a fair bit of it on the boat hehehehe). We are on our own net now as opposed to the library as we were before, its only wireless at the moment but it does the job. We prefer Queenstown over Zeehan and Roseberry, but we will most likely stay here as this is were we got the kids into a school which is more important than anything else. Its still a bit all surreal for me.

Good to hear Mick. Zeehan is a nice little town, with very friendly people. I have some good memories of that town and always look forward to my visits there. There are usually quite a few places available in Queenstown, so if you ever want to move, should not be hard. Th agent in Zeehan seems to be handling most places here now, though I have been told many stories about him....

How long a lease are you on? My place might come on the market in January, 3 b/r triple block, great views, very cheap rent.

Hope you get it all sorted and are happy in your new life. Make sure you take the short run down to Trial Harbour, you both and the kids will love it there.

Hey there Mick, sounds like your move to Tas has gone very smoothly and everyone is settling in nicely. Where did you move from?

I hope my husband and I can be as brave as your family one day, and bite the bullet also:D
