Few shots from around the garden:-

When they are not squabbling - sometimes the curlews get 'friendly'... for all of the 2 seconds the 'act' seems to take! Here are a bunch that are still just thinking about it:

very nice Nat, no flowers here yet but there is evidence that we may get some in the future, those bush thick knees (orgasm bird) are very quarrelsome and can be very noisy!

Love the birds Natalie and the flowers are gorgeous. Very nice detail and colour in all the shots. We may have flowers coming out but it definitely isn't spring down here.

Thanks Dave, Shane and Anna. :) Glad you enjoyed them.

Anyone notice that I used Irfanview to process these, instead of HPImageZone? :)

Another one here who didn't check the exif data. I would have though irfanview was good for very minor stuff (i use it for resizing and sometimes cropping), but actual post processing it is very limited. If you are looking for a freeware solution to post processing have you considered The Gimp? Yes, it looks scary and daunting with lots of buttons, sliders, menus and options, but I do know it also has a very friendly and helpful community that will guide you through the learning curve. Virtually as powerful as photoshop, giving you a lot more control over your finished image.

Thanks Shane, Dave & Anna,

I find Gimp very daunting, and not very intuitive. Everything I want to do requires using the user manual... and the thing is my brain sees technical info as Chinese. :( Or, if not Chinese - then the jargon used to explain things (in my brain) often has at least two interpretations... usually contradicting each other. Which means that I end up not being able to do anything and closing the application. :(

Guess I'm just too thick to understand. :(

Awwwww, I doubt you are thick Natalie. The Gimp can be very daunting, it is a bit like photoshop, and I have a huge phobia about that. Whenever Shane starts talking photoshop I know exactly how you feel and often bash him for swearing at me.

OY YOU!!!!..... we dont allow that self degrading talk in here!...... cut it out,..... I for one find you,.... as with all in this forum,... very clever and articulate and great folks to be around,.... far from thick!!.. I take great offence at self degradation, just take the gimp one step at a time,..... you are far more clever than you give yourself credit for!!.......... little bight's!!

Hey Natalie...the only thing I can say is go with what you are most comfortable with. It does take a long time to get your head around these programs...I have been trying to get the ins and outs of photoshop for the last 6 or so years and I still feel like I know nothing. Take your time and just have a bit of fun :)
