Went for a run up to Zeehan with Shane today to meet up with Mick Thow. Mick has a nice collection of snakes and other creatures and shows them at various venues. We have known Mick for a couple of years now, so he allows us to get a few special shots whenever we can meet up.

Have not finished going through them yet, and will post a few more shots later. Couple of teasers below of one of his newest friends, her name is Charleen, and she is a Tasmanian Tiger Snake.

Great shots, Mystic... although, I have to agree with Dave - can't stand those venomous varieties. On the whole, I'm happy to live and let live, as far as the venomous snakes are concerned... just as long as they don't try to live with me.

Don't mind the pythons... I've had a few in-residence Children's Pythons at various locations here on the island, and a visiting Olive Python that tried to have our pet rat for dinner one night.

Have to say though, the shot of the Tiger Snake next to that guy's foot, made my blood run cold.

no you're right, the shovel is not the correct choice, spade is much sharper and easier handled!

No need to kill them Dave. They are actually quite beautiful creatures.

Natalie, it was quite surprising, the tiger was very placid and completely non threatening. The copperhead, on the other hand, was a nasty little piece of work and ready to strike at anything within range. The pythons were also quite snappy little critters.

Yeah that shot of the tiger by Mick's boot was cool, he could not see it so I suggested he not lean back. Shane managed to get nice and personal with her as well...she seemed to take a liking to him.

One would assume that he had the perfect chance to get a great shot... wait until you see the results, if he is brave enough to post them here ROFL.

Please check out All About Reptiles website for more information on Mick and his activities.

The coments about the shovel and spade i always say if you cant kill it with your bare hands then you should leave it alone,

great shots folks, the Tassie tiger is a bit different to our tiger, they seem more placid, I found that when I was over there last, our tigers would have your leg as soon as look at you!, I do actually catch these things and place them back out in "their own space" but occasionally one doesn't want to go then he gets the spade or bull wire!, only about 12 months ago I sat down near the door of the shed having a cuppa, went to put the cup down and found a brown coiled at my feet just staring up at me! took a bit of courage to move I can tell you!

The tigers down here are definitely different to the mainland variety. Have seen tigers on the mainland chase a person, and behave a lot more like the way the copperhead behaved yesterday.

Love the textures angle in Charleen number 4, and Luigi number 2 is a classic! :)
