My fiancée has never seen the west coast so I must instill some of it in her blood so that she too gets the west coast fever from time to time

Also on the west coast there is Trial and Granville Harbours. Trial can be very busy over Xmas and New year, though if you have a 4wd you can go further down the beach to locate more isolated spots.
Out along the Mt Jukes Rd out of Queenstown there is a campground (no facilities) just past Crotty Dam on Lake Burbury. There are also a few spots along the highway between Queenstown and Zeehan, again with no facilities.
My fav campground over here is at Trial Harbour. Nice long beaches, rugged coastline, and no crowds most of the year. It has water and a toilet, though you need to take your own firewood.

The dunes thenselves are a photograhers dream given the right light and time of day. 60ft plus gum trees stick out of the sand in places where they have been over run by the moving sands and the forces of nature create some incredible ripples in the dunes surface. With the Henty Rivers entry to the sea about 4klm from the camping area over the dunes to the beach and then head north.
What was that.... Too many choices..... Thats Tassie for ya.

Shane & I took a drive out this way recently and we also noticed a number of tracks coming off the road that looked like promising spots to pitch a tent.

About 100 yards before the Murchison bridge, heading towards Rosebery, there is a gravel track on the right. Not that rough last time I explored it. This will take you down to a small campsite on the edge of the lake.

The campground is nice enough, but not the neighbours. Dirt/quad bikes revving all day, smashing up the dunes. We even had some idiot at 4am speeding up the road. Not a very pleasent experience at all- we decided to leave.
Corinna, on the other hand, is a beautiful place. $20 for the ferry is a bit steep, but easier that swimming the care across....
