well "mac" arrived this morning and immediately assumed pride of place, "mac" is a 27" imac I7 quad core with 16 gig of ram and 1 terrabyte of hard drive space, very strange coming from a windows orientation to the snow leopard but it is very "instinctive", I am still finding my way around the beasty!
I was very surprised at how easy "mac" was to setup, everything is wireless, both my printers, (epson RX650 and the epson R1900 just installed effortlessly) airport extreme is a fantastic bit of kit, nothing is an effort, it simply works! don't really know why I didn't go mac years ago, I have the wireless keyboard and mouse, my desktop has never been so clean!

As for the ease of setting up and getting the printers recognised, you obviously never tried Windows 7
The secret to getting what you want, is to want what you need

no, vista was enough for me, wouldn't play with older programs, kept crashing, various applications would simply "stop working", constant virus attacks, I almost bought another PC but to be honest I got sick and tired of the problems, my son has alway had macs and he has always said that he couldn't understand why I'd bother with a PC, a lot of my gear wont work on this but my important stuff will!

I always called Vista "broken windows". Saw enough of how bad it was on other people's machines and refused to install it on my own. Surprisingly, with Windows 7, they seem to have got things working properly. A dream to use, and have never had a crash in all the time I have been using it (since the early beta days). I now run a dual boot system with Windows 7 Ultimate as my main OS, and keep a small partition with Windows XP to run a couple of older programs, and because I have an old laser printer I sometimes use that never produced any drivers beyond XP. I also have a Linux computer for working with PHP and MySQL.
Used to work in a place that used Mac's and never could get used to them.

too complex for me, I much prefer a simpler solution!

thanks Shane, I got the toffs at apple to tackle this problem for me at the same time as my "upgrades", they did some "stuff" that supposedly will battle my dust problem! and being up on the desk must help as well, my fault I guess i like to keep all the doors and windows open thereby letting all the dust in! but it is a magical machine and very, very quick!

oh yes very "shiny" LOL!
I'm just in the process of placing all my software onto it, some will work, others wont, so I have to put it in then email the sales folk to see if I can get the software transferred to "mac", some from the "dark side" wont work but not to worry
I gave it a workout yesterday, I bought a new game a few weeks back, notorious for computer stall at full throttle, I wound all settings up to max and this thing just gobbled it up without one ounce of a flicker!,
it cost a few bob but I am beginning to think it is worth every cent, this screen is simply awe inspiring, it's huge, I came off a 19" lcd which I thought was good but this 27" is just something else
the wireless keyboard is weird, very small but very easy to work, the wireless magic mouse is very small and strange at first but very good to use,
all up, I'm very pleased, we have had a couple of arguments about how to install some software but we just go to mutual corners and come back when we are ready to play nice, it is very strange after windows but is a hell of a lot simpler
I have had a special offer from apple on an upgrade to "lion", i am currently running snow leopard (the newest one to date) lion is supposed to be a little better, $29 to upgrade, it will be released in the summer of this year, I have placed and paid for my copy
very hard to keep the holder of the p.i.n. away from it, she has already said that if her laptop dies then mac is next!
