Following on from some comments I made yesterday in another post.....

I thought it would be mouth watering for others to see what Tasmanian fresh, home grown organic produce actually looks like.

I will post various photo's of other produce as they become available from "The Patch".

For the first entry, this is what I normally have for breakfast at this time of year.

A succulent strawberry entree, followed by half a bowl of cereal, topped off with freshly picked raspberries.

Current shop price for a week old, cool stored, equivalent decadence of berry fruit, going on Mr Coles & Woolies prices, is around $18.00.

All I can say is...... YUMMmmmmmmmm.

Viewed full size, they taste even better. ROFL

mongrels!, rasberrys and strawberries would last about two minutes here at the moment, shrivel and die

The rain finally stopped around 2.00pm after having started shortly after breakfast.

Managed to get outside and pick almost another bucket peas for the freezer stock before it started raining again.

That makes it 5 buckets down and about 3 more to go. Cropping around a kilogram per bucket. We'll probably end up with around 7 kilo's all up.

From now on they tend to get powdery mildew due to the application of water and the humidity.

Nice haul you have there. Love fresh peas, so much better than the frozen stuff. Nice shots too :)

Thanks Mystic.

We or rather I, me, myself, tend to take home grown organic vegies as a fact of life but not for granted as I've grown my own vegies ever since I was a kid, helping my Dad in his 1/2 acre vegie patch. He also tried very hard to never use any chemicals. Unfortunatly, sometimes I find it is necessary to use some 1/2 strength natural pyrethrum for instant knockdown when the grasshoppers get a bit thick.

nice haul, we used to grow our own as well but the sun is just too nasty these days and the water restrictions!

Have missed a couple of photos of Gooseberries and Blackcurrants, they were turned into Gooseberry jam and Blackcurrant syrup/topping before I had a chance to snap them, hopefully the next lot.

I grow two varieties of cucumber which are now producing nicely, a couple of shots using a top from a standard plastic milk container as a gauge.
