Saw this dog whilst out wandering today, and could not resist the expression on his face

How'd you go about the grey scale background but dog in colour and keeping the outline so crisp.....?

It is a very cool shot Mystic.

Chris...the technique is called selective colouring. I do it in Photoshop by adding a black and white layer and then using the mask painting back in the bits I want coloured. I know Mystic does it slightly differently to me tho, but that is the beauty of Photoshop...there is more than one way to do things :D

Thanks folks. Chris, the way I usually do this kind of thing is to use the magic wand tool in Photoshop to select the item I want to keep. Use the selected part to create a layer via copy, transform the original layer to black & white. If anything is left in colour that I don't want to be, I will then use a quick mask to create another layer and fix it. Sometimes the magic wand just won't do it for me and I use Shane's method.

I should also add that using my magic wand method, there was only a tiny piece of the tea chest he was sitting on that had to be fixed. If it gets much more complicated than that I send the original to Shane and ask him to do it for me ROFL

Whilst in the grip of intense internet withdrawal the other day, strange things began to happen to my brian and I started thinking like Shane. This could be a very dangerous thing if allowed to continue for extended periods ROFL

I played around with my above pic a little

So you create a layer mask and effectively manually determine the area to not mask so to speak
