Finally received a new toy I had been looking forward to and almost had six months ago until things got screwed up. Took the new little baby of the house (Tamron 90mm SP DI) out for a bit of a wander to see what I could find. Mainly shot flowers, a few of which below.

Don't think I could get the rebate as I bought this from Honkers Bonkers (saving around $200 on Aussie prices). Was looking at the rebate requirements and will need to check if my dealer is actually an authorized Tamron dealer, and the way this stupid dial up is playing around with me at the moment, web surfing is no fun at all.

Sounds like your local line quality is affecting the modem you could modify the modems internal DTR rate and add &K3 to the init line if not already set.

Hmmm......... Long time since I tweaked a dial up modem.

Thanks Cascade. Hardware flow is enabled which should have added &K3 to the init (which I can't find in Windows 7 Ultimate).

It was fine before Telstra "fixed" my phone, and I have noticed noise on the line since then, which is probably causing the current issues.might have to call them back later and see if they can clean the line up a bit.

Hehe... Never had to look for them..... I'll consult the Windows 7 Bible.

Get Telstra techies to switch to the second pair. Most houses have them. They did it for me when I was on dial-up and it greatly improved things. I don't know if they still maintainthe policy that if your line is 1440bps data capable. (Fax machine.) then it's OK.
It could well be moisture in the connector pit/s somewhere along the line and will improve as things dry out.. Better still, you'll be back on broadband before then.

I used to maintain a home buisness computer at a house on the banks of the Forth River along the Wilmot Rd about 8 klm from the Forth township.. everytime it rained the dial-up went absolutly haywire even though they got well over the modems capabilities from the initial tweakings I did to it during dry spells.

thanks Cascade. Just dropped to 9600 baud and added a filter to the line. Seems I am at least able to have more than one page loading at a time now, and actually quicker even though the connection speed has dropped from an avg 44 to 31.2 Kbps

Hopefully it won't be too long before the broadband is active. The most frustrating thing really is that I have many websites I visit regularly that are exceptionally graphics heavy and trying to get into those on any dial up, no matter how good it is, just does not happen. On a positive note, I am surprised that even pages here with lots of photo's on them, are not too bad.
