Australia Day, Invasion Day, whatever you call it, has come and gone for another year. How did you spend the day?

Shane & I met up with Real Tasmania member Cascade, and his delightful partner Dianne, boy has she got her hands full there ROFL We took advantage of the super cheap Aussie Day fares on the West Coast Wilderness Railway and made the trip to Strahan and back, with a three hour delay in the middle when the train decided to derail itself. Only the engine came off the tracks, and the only injury was one person who fell when climbing off the back of the train. Being stuck there was a pain, and I think that they could have allowed us to walk up the line about 400 metres to the next station, rather than allowing people off for very limited periods to relive themselves in the bush and battle the masses of leeches. You get that I suppose.

I have loads of images yet to be processed, and they will probably take up most of my time over the next few days. Will add more as I get them off, but a few now just to start with.

I have managed to go through the shots of one folder for Aussie Day and here's a few more that I got. These were taken on the way to Strahan. Very much a learning experience in how to shoot from a moving vehicle.

Thanks Dave...It would be a very cool walk, but we would have to find out when the trains came through cause at some places there isn't enough room to get off the track. There is the Bird River track that goes down to Pillenger which follows a similar course which would be interesting to take.

Thanks Dave. It would make a very nice wander, but like Shane suggested, in places there is not room enough for a train and a person, one of them has to go ROFL

it's only a little train, I should think a well aimed kick would send it scurrying off! and it's very old, i remember all it's huffing and puffing, advanced lung disease I would assume, it will be found dead at the side of the track one day!

ROFL Dave. I think it may have been derailed the other day when it ran over a leech on the tracks. The area where it happened was swarming with the little buggers
