I wonder what Tasmanians do think about our heritage. I'm talking about family ties to the best little island in the world. I've been away for too long; since 1968 and little wonder I'm feeling homesick. Retirement in Tassie is such an attractive option.

It would be interesting to take a statewide poll to see what percentage of Tasmanians there actually are compared to the total state population.
Although I have now been here close to 42 years I am only just being considered a local by some of the native residents..... but I would now considered myself a true blue Tasmanian and defend this state to the hilt.
We all have a heritage and in the long term it's what you make of it. I am not a native but I know more about Tasmania and places within the state that puts a lot of true blooded Tasmanians to shame and even Tasmanian by birth, partner, admits to that. (The surplus head was surgically removed and frozen with a zip inserted in its place just in case it needs to be replaced to prove birthright)

I can certainly understand your feeling homesick, I have travelled widely during my lifetime but since living in Tasmania I can assure you it is the absoute best and one of the safest places in the world to ever wish to return to.

If I was not retired, for me, Tassie would be the ultimate place in the world to retire to, for the quality of life, probably one of the best climates in the world, I just wish we got a little more snow.. If I ever had to make another choice, it would be, Nova Scotia, Canada, as the similarities abound.

Do yourself a favour ..... return to the fold..... Get yer backside back to Tassie.
Some, walk in the rain, others, just get wet.

Do it Gerry...best place in the world.

Ok...I'm not a native of Tassie, but I feel this is my home, have done ever since I first saw the shoreline from the boat about 6 years ago. Sure not long but ever since I first saw images of Tasmania, and docos, I knew it was the place for me. The people down here are so accommodating, so friendly. The climate is perfect, well if you like the cooler places. The landscapes are amazing and ever changing.
Do what makes you happy :)
