I went and saw the fireworks display at Zeehan last night and came away with some cool shots. More to come.

I've always wanted to try this Shane, but I reckon I'd feel like a dork wandering around with the camera............you've done very well (why do I feel like Mr Grace, the older ones amongst us will know of what I speak,..."you've all done very well"......"thank you Mr Grace")
good set Shane, well done!

if you come across someone without a smile,.................. give them one of your's....... and watch it grow!
never be mean with a kind word, ........................you may need one yourself one day!
just as I get used to today along comes tomorrow!

Thanks Mystic and Dave
.
Its actually quite fun Dave, people aren't going to be looking at you mate
... it's best to have a tripod when shooting fireworks. I found a spot set up the tripod and didn't move... these shots were taken in bulb mode and I was using my remote to trigger the exposures so I didn't touch the camera. I think the shortest exposure was about half a second. I didn't use the flash...no point really

the last lot of fireworks we went to was new years, ................I think around 35,000 people came out to see that one, ..........almost all on one sectioned off street........I'd be concerned about some lout knocking the gear over........not too many vantage points away from the drunken mob and trees at that time.......may have to go to the one down at Fishermans Bay....that may have better vantage points???????

with that many people crammed in to one spot I can see your concern about your gear. Yeah its always good to seek out good vantage points before going down for the shoot.

Dave, do they still have Skyshow in Adelaide? I think it was around Australia Day and people gathered in one of the parks along the Torrens.Even with the crowds that used to attend that a spot could still be found to safely set up. Mind you I am going back a few years since I lived over that way and skyshow has probably joined the dinosaurs since then
