Went for a wander with Shane today down a local walking trail that is a well kept secret. It can be found on the Mt Jukes Rd outside of Queenstown. About a kilometer before the bridge over the King River there is a bay on the right with a track marked by PINK ribbon tape and a few steps leading into the undergrowth.

The track is mostly easy until just before you get to the river junction where it becomes quite steep. There is a rope and pvc tube handrail on the downhill section, though it would be extremely slippery if wet. Probably about 15-20 minutes from start to the junction of the two rivers. Surprising quite a nice spot, and one that I will definitely be going back to.

Not happy with a lot of my shots, but a few below...

Hi Mystic,

That looks like an excellent spot! (Now on the TBT list of things to do next time we're out in the wild west!)

Interesting colours in those rivers too...

thanks Jon, definitely one to look at over this way. The Queen is quite murky and yellow/brown, while the King is nice and clear. Interesting when they blend together.

What a gorgeous blue fungus! Wish you'd take a dozen shots of that one - as I've never seen that kind before.

Thanks Nat :) I did take about half a dozen shots but due to them being longish exposures...and hand held they were more blurred than the one here. Oh well...I reckon I can find some more of them somewhere...and hopefully have the tripod with me...so I can shoot them ROFL
