What an entertaining read. Very well described trip Ian, thank you for sharing your experiences with us all. I also hope that others will get a lot out of your words and advice. Tasmania is so beautiful and the changes dramatic at times but you have to see them with your own eyes to really appreciate the place.
So they still have the shit machine there? I didn't see it when we went, but wasn't really interested in that part of it. I did however enjoy seeing the pieces of 'art' and would return to have a longer closer look at the place. Agree about the building, gorgeous structure. I was actually fascinated with the textures both inside and out when I went, probably more interested in them than the artworks
, but I am a texture freak
Thanks again Ian for telling us how your trip went. Looking forward to the shots when you get them up.

Thanks Dave, Shane, Mystic!
Yep, didn't really want to get into a Mona focussed debate...and maybe I came across a bit...over the top (has been known!). I'm not an art-evangelist, everyone to their own, I say and we're lucky to live in a country where we can hold different views, strong views, on many topics and keep the discussion civilised & respectful.
Anyway, no doubt about the attractions of Tasmania and in my own small way I'll 'spread the word'. Like so many Aussies, I spend more time travelling out of the country, missing the jems that are right here..so it's good to 'go local' and we'll be doing that more often from now.
I think I mentioned I'm away most of next week and will endeavour to post some pics before then, but if not as soon as I can. So in the meantime, thanks again and all the best!
Cheers!
Ian
