Relaxing in Tasmania is a multimedia DVD slideshow presentation with a soundtrack designed to lull you into a state of total relaxation.

This is definitely not something to watch shortly before doing something that requires you to be alert, such as driving, or rushing out for an important meeting. Chances are you will forget all about the meeting, sink into your armchair, and simply drift off into an ethereal space somewhere.

Over 450 images of locations right across the state, many of which are captured in places the average tourist would never venture. Mind you, if you are hoping to see the usual touristy stuff, and loads of content based within the major cities, you will be disappointed. Whilst some of the images do show our major cities, the vast majority has been sourced in some very out of the way places.

This first volume contains images captured over a period of around two years travelling throughout the state, into places only tents are brave enough to tread. Images meld into each other through a range of transition effects, ensuring the production is never boring. It may put you to sleep, but through the power of the music and imagery, that is what this production is designed to do. A perfect escape from stress that can be used over and over again.

The DVD is yours for only $19.50 including express post delivery to anywhere in Australia (contact for price to other countries), and can be easily paid for using PayPal. Just contact me via private message to purchase, or ask any questions you like here.

"Relaxing in Tasmania" - Review

Relaxing in Tasmania is a special gem where you get to sit back and be spirited away to another, especially beautiful, land.

As soon as you start up the show you are greeted with a soothing track which is totally easy listening, no harsh chords, or anything to bassy, which is good and sets the mood for what you are about to watch.
Which is the slideshow. Which is wall to wall non-stop tranquil and breath-takingly beautiful shots of Tasmania. You won't be disappointed by touristy shots, as the ad says. You get professional, high-quality pictures of serene and secluded spectacles of nature and the heart of Tasmania.
You get to see beaches where they stretch out forever, and the photo lets you see the grains of the sand and each wave lapping up onto the shore.
There are shots of waterfalls and creeks which are surrounded by trees and foliage, where the shot crisply shows the leaves and the flowing of the water, and the music completes the scene by keeping its steady and rhythmic tempo.
The shots of tall rock formations and cliffs get to draw your eyes across them, from the actual main piece, to the little details which make the shots complete, like wispy clouds in the wind, the shrubbery and trees, to the little flowers, all of which are beautifully captured.
Then there are the really cute shots that are memorable and sometimes funny. One such picture as a sample would be a very close-up of a frog nestling itself in a flower, peeking up over the rim at the camera. The uniqueness of the piece is very nice and the detail makes it as though you are right there watching the little frog from a few inches, as he is staring curiously back at you.
Overall, the high quality, tranquil and beautiful pictures, and steady easy-listening instrumental soundtrack all lend to the purpose of "Relaxing in Tasmania": To get you to sink into your chair/sofa/bed and have all those muscles (especially your brain) and leave you feeling serene and possibly so much so that you fall into a deep rest where you dream pleasantly (or not atall) and come to feeling like a million bucks.
"Relaxing in Tasmania"'s layout, length and quality lend to it a good level of re-playability which means you can use it over and over again to free your mind from stress and come back feeling refreshed (whether or not you end up crossing the barrier into a most wonderful sleep).

Short version: Get "Relaxing in Tasmania". This is an all purpose relax solution...the pictures and music combine to free your mind from any thoughts other than how nice and relaxing an experience you are having.

Sorry to say that we are no longer producing this DVD. We did sell a lot of copies, but neither Shane nor myself are happy with the product. Shane has been working on a new version, but I don't think that one is ready yet. Will have to see if he has any old copies lying around, or if his new project is ready when he comes online later.

Thank you, if you do have a old copy I would love to purchase one, been looking for some on Ebay on tassie for the kids to watch especially the younger ones, so they can get use to where we are moving to and see some of the areas, they are not many around nor are there books. We have a massive detailed map up on our kitchen wall that we all love looking at and your local radio station is going here all day - 7AD.

Hmmm... Old one sold well and is no longer available, there is a new one on the way. Well, here's an idea! How about uploading it online as an .avi file, (relatively smaller file size) and let it be shared freely?... Throw an ad for the new disc on there at the start, even asking for musical contributions if still needed?, and voila! free advertising, customer satisfaction, everyone's a winner! B)

Oh, and Hi! I'm new here, but not at all new to Tasmania!, Some interesting reading and photo's here, looking forward to contributing more soon...

Hi Jesta, and welcome. Hope we see more of you around the site :)

Hmmmm, not a bad suggestion, but I guess it depends on why we decided to remove the DVD from sale in the first place... The presentation runs to about 3.8 Gb, which would reduce to around 700Mb if we wanted to... BUT... it was created using images shot very early in our combined photographic skill development. Whilst we have had no complaints from those who purchased, (actually only ever had very positive feedback), WE don't like it ROFL Having said that, it might be something we could consider uploading to the special site supporters section of this website (accessed by those who donate more than $20 to site running costs, which also gives supporters advertisement free browsing of the entire site). Will have to discuss it with Shane.

We are very interested in musical contributions for a new disc and did speak to a number of people in the past, but nothing really came of it.

I wouldn't like to see the photo's given away freely as I am a great proponent of payment for work done ("quid pro Quo").......if one goes to all the trouble of collecting the pictures (great amount of travel involved and all sorts of hardships endured) then "processing" (many hours involved to get it right) and then tracking down and overlaying a musical ensemble to it and after all that sourcing and printing a "cover" as well as DVD covers then, I think, they should be damn well compensated for it

the DVD was a pittance in monetary terms and absolutely worth the amount asked.....these finances also helped to support our dynamic duo who own and run the site......well at least kept them in beer and pizza for a weekend!

put me down for the next one Anna and Shane.....well done!

just as I get used to today along comes tomorrow!

Thanks for your input Dave. I hardly think the profits from one of these would keep us in pizza and beer for a weekend... won't even cover a six pack ROFL

I agree with your thought on quid pro quo, but we are also not greedy people, and we have made a reasonable amount out of past sales from this DVD. As time past and our skills grew we genuinely felt this effort is a little below par, even though others still like it. No accounting for some people ROFL

I have converted this to an MPEG file and will upload it to a little home in the Site Supporters section sometime later this week. It is a file around 770 Mb and I only have a max upload speed of 30 Kb/s so it is going to take a while to do. We figure if we put it there people still need to spend at least $20 before they can access it, and it might encourage more people to dig into their pockets and support a website that so many say helps them enormously.

We have now uploaded an MPEG version of this DVD to the special section of this site that is accessible to all Site Supporters. the resolution of the downloadable version is not as high as the original DVD, but still looks great on my 24" computer monitor.

To become a Site Supporter all you need to do is to donate at least $20 to help cover the running costs of this website. There is a quick donation box located on the front page of the site (top right) or you can contact either myself or Shane Viper for details of alternative payment methods to PayPal.

Site Supporters are also able to view the site without any advertising appearing, and have use of a private forum section.

I urge all of those people who have found this website useful to contribute to the costs. Please consider that the information found here will generally save you more $$$ than a the cost of a small donation, or at least help you add a lot of pleasure value to your next trip to Tasmania.

This website has now grown in size, and has almost five GIGABYTES of information and photographs now, and this means that our server costs will soon double as we upgrade to a new hosting plan with more space.

Please note that the change of status to Site Supporter is not automatic, but is usually fixed within a few hours of receiving notification of your donation.
