From the C807 you take a left turn (well signposted) to Beechford, a sleepy little community on an isolated beach in the far north east tip. The campground is at the end of the township, just past the oval and playground.

Camping here is free, and locals inform me that the power can actually be rigged to the powered sites here, but "you have to fiddle with the power box to set it up". If you are using a powered site, they do ask for a donation to help out with costs.

Facilities here include toilets, picnic tables and a kids playground. The town only has about 15 permanent residents, and is quite isolated, and very quiet. They do, however, have a public phone here.

The campground is quite nice, and just beside the track that leads over the dunes to the long, very isolated beach. It is a pretty location, and makes a great overnight stop. Plenty of tree for shade, and very well sheltered location.

The thing we enjoyed most about this place was the absolute peaceful atmosphere. It was strange to notice just how relaxing and peaceful it was. The beach makes for a great stroll and swimming, and there is not much else to the place. We did enjoy one of the best sunsets we saw on the trip though, and they way the ground refracted the light was awesome.

A nice little spot to get away to 4tent.GIF

Beechford is a sleepy little place north east of George Town. It was hard to believe that there was a town there at all. There aren't any shops in the village. The closest shops are in George Town so if you need anything buy it before getting there.

The site we set the tent up in was well sheltered, some of the sites are more open to the elements.

There is a rubbish bin at this site, please use it. Water is available from the tank which is located behind the toilet block, water supply permitting.

There were quite a few birds in the area. We didn't notice any large native animals though. There were dogs from the town, being walked by their owners.

It was a very quiet spot. The sound of the waves from the beach was very soft. I think the noisiest time of the day was evening when the birds were flying around.

It may not have been the most scenic of places to camp but it was still quite beautiful. I give this site 4tent.GIF
