they eat a variety of insects, including ants. They live to be about 10 years old in woodlands and heaths with plenty of sunshine below 400 metres altitude.
We called this little guy DB, because of the diamonds on his back. He was also at Doras Point.

ok Dave you have to sign up for a herpetology permit and have to catch from the wild as it is illegal to sell reptiles in Tasmania (stupid in my opinion) but its the govs rules nothing we can do about it

It seems absolutely unnatural to me that supposedly intelligent people would ever want to keep creatures of this earth caged up or housed in plastic tubs (because they are easier to clean) for their own personal pleasure.
I'm happy to see any of Mother Nature's wonders by chance, I admit, some things I will never see, but if I'm fortunate and I do, hopefully I'll have my camera and get some photo's, be permitted to stay awhile and watch before it dissapears or I need to leave. Then, I'll wait patiently for the next moment in time when I spot something, and again, experience a feeling of intense pleasure and afterwards, often for many days, I'll wonder with pure amazement at the diversity and utter complexity of the flora & fauna we have.
Before anyone jumps in..... some creatures and plants on this planet were always destined to become extinct.... in most people, caring is a natural human response and trying to save an endagered species is great.... but unfortunatly, most of those species would probably have never got to that state, if it were not for mankind and his ever consuming greed and hunger for the almighty dollar along with his constant efforts and attempts at changing the balance of nature.
Some of facts of life on this earth are: 1. We get hungry - we find food or we starve and die. 2. We procreate, feed and protect our young from predators or they die or we die protecting them, they may still die or they may survive. 3. We get sick - we might get well or we might die. This circle had gone on for all time as we know it for all species. Generally it's called the force of nature.
We are the ones that have basically stuffed up and accelerated the unbalance of nature..... and there aint ever gonna be a quick fix.
Perhaps this may be seen as a bit of a ranting on by an old bastard, but I am what I am, just consider the fact that I've been here twice as long as most of you and in some cases three times as long or longer. I have seen and experienced more than most of you ever will.
Some free advice:....... Live every day you survive on this earth as if it's yours and everthing else's last one. ..... Have a great day....... every day.
