Renison Bell was a thriving town once, though very little is now left to indicate it ever existed. This is all that is to be seen of the pub that once stood here. Having difficulty tracking down when it finally closed, but only mention of it with a date is in a 1922 travel guide, indicating it was still in operation then. Renison Bell slowly died as the towns of Zeehan & Rosebery grew.

The site is located about 300 metres before the Bluestone mine (the largest underground tin mine in the world) on the Murchison Highway, heading towards Rosebery.

Most of the houses were moved to those towns, but you can still see various reminders of the old days via a 45 minute historical walk to the old stamper mill.

There is a basic picnic ground here, with no facilities, and indications of campfires being constructed suggest that people sometimes camp here. It would be a nice spot to stop overnight if you were looking for something without charge and did not feel like pushing onto Lake Rosebery.

Thanks Nett, that would be great. Chatting with Coop, he recalls it being taken away around 1979. If you can find someone with a photo of the actual pub that would be fantastic.

Renison bell was a happening little place..I lived there for a few years..leaving in 1972. Quite a close community socially..some great characters. Stan and Pat Roy built , owned and operated the Renison Pub and Stan's hobby was building pool tables..often in strange shapes to create harder games...I remember playing on a 7-sided table..with one blind corner , that he made. I have some good memories of living there.
