I must admit this is one of the prettiest parks I have ever visited , I have been coming here since I was a little girl before the monkeys where there and it used to have the zoo style park along the side , we used to feed the wallabys and ducks and of course have a train ride around the park , toot toot but what i really love about this park is the Tree's wow they are so big bold and beautiful, true tree hugging tree's
since i have started taking photos I quiet regually walk down there or call in on my way past just to chill out and take a few macro photos of the large variety of flowering things plus i have taken a few postcard style shots in there
Here is one taken this spring when the gardens were in there prim peek growing season.

Looks like a beautiful place to spend a few hours relaxing Sim. Nice shot.

Autumn 2003 in city park. I agree with Sim, one of the prettiest parks in a city with many pretty parks (Brickfields, Princess Square, Royal Park, etc). It's great to wander around on a crisp autumn morning. I only have a vague memory of the wallabies in the zoo area on the Cimitere St end of the park, but I have always loved the monkeys, which were given to Launceston as a gift from Ikeda in Japan, one of her sister cities. There's something inherently relaxing about watching those monkeys - perhaps it's because they have such a good life (sleep, eat, play) and like to rub our noses in it
