Ok after much talking and many must do's I have finally started the 52 week challenge. My first wandering was to the Dundas River, a place that I used to frequent when I was a kid, but havent been back to in years, even though it is only about 20 minutes drive away from my home, and even though it was way to cold to swim, I love the vibrant colours that just seem to erupt here on the West Coast after a rainfall, they contrast beautifully with the dry twigs and grey rocks of the river bed.

Congratulations Nett. One down, fifty one weeks to go.

Beautiful spot, the Dundas river, and one I certainly want to do a lot more exploring of. You have some great shots there, and I love the way you have presented this.

Well done indeed, and I am very much looking forward to what you preoduce over the weeks to come.

For this weeks adventure, I convinced Tazzie Dreamer to come along on a "road trip" to find places neither of us had either been to or been to in years. It took us up an old forestry road (where my little car actually had to go into 4wd!) that had no real good pic opportunities smile.gif, then a stop along the Zeehan/Rosebery road for some great shots of Mt Zeehan covered in misty rain, we then took the road to the Argent Dam, which had a gate across...... so meant we had to get out and walk in the rain to see what was there, which lead us to finding some great shots of natural bush, fungus, and little bugs, we ended up getting caught in a down pour so very wet we drove onto the Old Renison Township where we came across some old tin sheds and rusty machinery that just screamed photograph me. So of course I obliged. Which leads me to my photograph submission for this week. I have once again scrapbooked this time in a direction that i have never really gone before, just using Black and White. Please let me know what you think, as constructive critisism is a great tool to learn from smile.gif

Cool stuff Nett. I Like the idea of B&W, though with rusty stuffs, often find colour and tecture are important. Can I suggest that if going B&W on rust, adjust brightness & contrast, as well as shadows & highlights to bring the texture out more and make the contrasts crisper.

Thankyou Anna. I will play around and see what I can do. I do see what you mean about the contrasts in the photos. I made the mistake of getting involved with the layout I think and forgot the most important thing, the photos.

ok been playing around with the photos, and i am sure they could do with more adjustments. Is this what you were talking about Anna? Ive played with the curves and the contrast on all the photos, and am pleased with they way they are coming up. and i reckon i will tweak them further later.

This week I didnt get a chance to wander far at all, well not so much a chance because I was offered the chance to go see the Targa cars, but Im sorry the house was just screaming for attention more!, and I did get to go out to the Averbury Mine, but no cameras allowed sad.gif, so this week my camera and I were stuck in the street, I was lucky enough to witness a couple of great sunsets, with low hanging smoke around it makes for some brilliant colours, and that leads me to this weeks picture, I just love the way suns rays shoot from behind the clouds, and while i was waiting for the colours to break I happened to look up and there I discovered I wasnt alone A group of starlings also waited, and it struck me how like a music staff they looked, almost as if they were showing me the music that was about to happen, just at the end of my street...smile.gif.

The Averbury mine would have been interesting, pity they did not allow cameras. Mines produce some really interesting textures and loads of other good stuff to photograph.

I do like your subtle sunset though, the rays are nice and warming. Have you tried playing around with the original at all to see if you could give them a bit more definition? I have found that adjusting the shadows & highlights can work wonders with them.

Very nice shot and work there nett, Well done. Your story reminds me of when we were camping and all the birds flying around and singing at dusk.

I am really going to have to go through your scrap booking stuff one day. You have some interesting little bits and pieces.

Thankyou both, I did play around with the photo Anna, but in the end decided to go with the original, seemed to blend better with the feel I was looking for. And Margie since I crashed my external hard drive, ive had to make up my own scrapbooking supplies, so all that you see was hand made by me for each layout. Figured I would double the challenge for myself lol, I guess I am a glutton for punishment. (Luckily I do have a good stash of Actions though so that does make it a bit easier smile.gif ) so your welcome to go through what I have anytime smile.gif or if your after something specific, let me know and Ill give it a go.
