I don't know if anyone else is as angry as I am. I assume there are people out there who are just as disgusted with the behaviour of our elected representatives. I would hope so.

It took me a long time to finally see Tasmania & appreciate it's uniqueness, and all the things that make it special. I can't help but feel that everything is tainted by the behaviour of those people elected to govern us. They're a mix of arrogance, contempt and down-right incompetence. The way they behave is beyond the pale. It really eats me up.

The thing that really got to me today? The DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) has grave concerns about the conduct of Steve Kons & Linda Hornsey surrounding the appointment of a new magistrate & the subsequent shredding of the cabinet paper to appoint said magistrate. The DPP can not investigate unless advised to do so by the Attorney General (David Llewellyn). Our Premier sees no reason to investigate. Yet our fair & just leader has told us that Tasmania Police will be investigating how the Tasmanian Greens acquired the shredded letter.

It's astounding.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Remember, attack the issue, not the person smile.gif

Wayne, I was simply sitting back and waiting for someone to bring this up. Thank you

From the way the pulp mill was mishandled to the current issues, I cannot believe how any reasonable minded person can sit back and support the current governmental system within this State.

It certainly is beyond belief how the premier has attempted to switch the focus of the current corruption issues. I also find it very difficult to believe that the deputy premier has agreed that he misled parliament, and the people of Tasmania, abused his power and position, and yet escapes investigation by the DPP on issues that surely warrant criminal charges.

We cannot blame party politics alone on this situation but rather look towards a deeper attitude within our parliamentary system for what is currnetly happening.

The people of Tasmania should be rightly disgusted with the current political state, and if they are not then surely they must begin to question their political values.

In a way I wish it was a party issue, because then it would simply be a case of voting them out.

But really, the current government are just following the example set by Robin Gray's government in the 1980s, and I'm sure Robin was following in the tradition of Eric Reece's government, etc. Although they do seem to be growing in their audacity as time goes by. But when nobody with any teeth can hold them accountable, are we likely to see any change?

Not bloody likely!

Unfortunately not even the development of an ICAC style watchdog will change things, not if the NSW example is anything to go by. I was involved in an ICAC enquiry against a senior public servant facing major criminal charges. We knew what the outcome of the enquiry would be, but the Govt forced the ICAC to not reveal its findings due to an approaching election.

I always believed that we were constitutionally forced to abide by the separation of powers, but this appears to have been overlooked by recent developments across all faces of politics.
