Targa Tasmania starts in less than 13 hours , woohoo
OK so what does this really mean apart from I have lost the plot yet again, well actually I haven't,
<anything to the contrary from Anna , Margie or Nett is not to be taken notice of LOL >
Official web site for Targa 2008 Rally

Have a look when the Targa cars are coming thru your part of town, the track this year is slightly different from previous ones so you might be well surprised and get a visit from a few very nice looking Rally cars from all over the world ,
Yep that's right Targa Tasmania is a car rally race with different stages ,
cars from all over the world is different ages , styles and classes race a predetermined track coming thru your towns and well worth checking out , Every year Targa comes to Tasmania its the ultimate car event for the year

Wow, thats a far off dream of mine to do a Targa. We have one here, Targa Newfoundland. Which is on the other side of Canada from me. 5000 km away, may as well be in Tasmania, lol.
I'll have to see if I can get someone to record it for me on the Speed Channel.

They're not doing the Cherry Tree Hill-Cranbrook stage on the East Coast this year? Interesting...

I would love to find a spot near Zeehan to check them out and maybe get some pix.

Well Margie it does seem to be true that they are racing through Zeehan this year. so Im planning on being on the big corner in main st. At least im hoping to. lol, should get some good shots from there. some will slow down a bit for the corner i would imagine, the other place I was thinking is uptown with the museum and gaiety as a backdrop.

I understand Nett, that the run through Zeehan is a "road" leg "not racing". There are two racing stages along the piemen road around Reece and Bastyan Dams.
The secret to getting what you want, is to want what you need

Thanks Anna, was worried about safety issues if they were racing, but by not going so fast should mean even better photo ops

Not bad ideas for where to get shots Nett.
I emailed the clerk of the course earlier today and asked for some spectator points along the track where they were going to race and he replied...
So if you really want to see them race check out the course map and times the road will be closed. Also read the spectator safety document they have on the site.
Looking forward to seeing shots from whoever gets them.

There are no nominated spectator points on the Pieman stage, but the are some good spots on the stage.
I suggest that you look for a safe location that is well off the road and complies with the spectators guide (that shows where not to stand) on the website.
Cheers
Ken

thanks Margie, russ is thinking of heading to granville this weekend, so could even get the chance to head out and get some shots along the granville road. hmmmm will think on it there are a couple of places out there where Nikki's camera would get some excellent shots
its the early morning rise to get there before the cars come through thats gonna be fun
any idea on times?

Not an early morning at all Nett. The pieman rd is going to be closed between 1-5pm. I guess they could be expected down Heemskirk way from anytime after about 2 onwards.
We are considering getting a spot along the racing leg, but will mean being stuck in the area for about 4 hours or so, if you are interested in tagging along.
