I don't know how many of you have seen the cars but I thought I would upload a few that we saw today. We got heaps of images, some from the Heemskirk Road and others in Zeehan. I will be making a Targa image Gallery with more cars.

I really enjoyed getting out and seeing all the cars. First we went to the Heemskirk Road, in between Heemskirk River and Granville. We had a gorgeous outlook, over towards Mt heemskirk and it was the first time I had actually seen the falls. They were beautiful. I really am looking forward to going for a wander over to them one day.

We sat and waited in the car for a bit and then we heard a car coming and it was an officials car. We got out of the car and the police car which marked the start of the competitors arriving drove past. I was feeling excited. This was the first time I had taken pictures of a moving vehicle. I was also a little scared because i really wanted to get shots and hoped I didn't stuff up while taking the images.

The cars were going at about 100 km/h where we were standing and it was sometimes hard to get the shots and many times I missed what I was shooting, got some really nice tarmac shots biggrin.gif

We managed toget quite a few shots at this point, well we hoped we did, and then moved back to Zeehan to see if it was easier if the cars were going a bit slower. At the first place we tried to get shots in Zeehan there were heaps of kids. I thought they were just going to wave to the drivers as they were going past, but no they were there for autographs. Every time a car came around the corner they would rush out on the road and stop and engulf the car. I thought that was very dangerous.

We moved away from them and managed to get a good spot for some shots. The light was really funny, very bright and reflecting off buildings. The cars were easier to get shots of because they were gowing a hell of a lot slower in town.

Both Anna and I took these images, from the same camera.

For now Enjoy...

Well written Margie. Must agree with the slight degree of fear about the shots, especially out near Granville. This was a first for us both, in taking images of this nature, and I too managed some great shots of the tarmac, quite a few back bumper bars as well.

The falls do look spectacular and are definitely something I also am looking forward to getting much closer to.

Good work with cleaning the shots up too smile.gif

Must admit though, the notion that basically we stood on the side of the road taking photo's of the passing traffic for a few hours does seem a little strange, but as you said, at one point... "this was special traffic".

Hopefully some others have also managed to sneak off a few shots of this annual piece of Tasmania.

We have created an album and posted some of the other Targa images. More will be added ocer the next day or two. You can view the album here
