hello there I thought I would start a post on how are you enjoying your day , often we have posts about the trips and adventures we take around Tasmania and all the special things we do and see, but what about the ordinary day to day stuff we sometimes dont even realise we are doing ,
For example the weather is starting to get colder here in Launceston now , we have had 2 good frosts first thing in the morning last two days but then I know if its a frost its going to be a sunny day , I live in sort of a suburban industrial area called the Swamp, its only 10 to 15 minutes walk over the river into the heart of Launceston city, and at the moment I'm sitting in my kitchen looking out the window and beautiful blue skies full of sunshine and watching a family of young Wattle birds play and chase each other in between a set of 3 trees one of them being in my small yard its a weird experience standing out near my clothes line as these birds chase each others in groups of two and three at eye level to me and then swoop up into the air again to land in the tree tops .

So my question to you is this how are you enjoying your day in Tasmania and of course elsewhere in our community of members biggrin.gif

Nice thought Sim. been rather cold here the past few days also, but unfortunately all the gorgeous snow we had on our resident mountain yesterday is gone today sad.gif

Been meaning to get out for the past few days to get some shots of the fly agaric mushrooms that are back in season once again, so we took a bit of a wander around the local golf course today. Breezy and chilly in the wind, which was playing havoc with my poor unprotected ears, but got some nice shots.

First thing we saw after pulling up in the car park was a group of chippie chippies (superb fairy wrens) playing around on the 9th green.

As for the rest of my day... it will be taken up largely through some community work setting up a number of computer systems that are being given to needy people. But, mostly by staying warm and snug inside our house. smile.gif

AS Anna said we went to the local golf course today. Just wanted to share a shot I took while we were there. This is the lake which is located near the first hole. I took it from a hill on the 3rd hole. I really enjoyed the wander, even though it was a bit chilly.

We saw lots of fly agaric and got some great shots of them as well.

As for the rest of the day...just been trying to keep warm and playing in photoshop.

Yep I agree a nice idea Sim smile.gif
Well my day was pretty good, got off work early and went to strahan for a drive, was beautiful and clear from the lookout, and would have been a great photo opportunity except for one thing, I HAD FORGOTTEN MY CAMERA!!!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, well that happens when your in a hurry to leave because you have a well and truly overdue hair appointment.....lol, but since I had my sister with me and we got a chance to catch up was still a nice day, The weather here in town was crisp but clear no rain one of those days that just make you smile and keep moving to keep warm smile.gif

My day is going well, although working where I do it is chilly. I would much rather be outside playing with cameras, but if I were to not work, I would not have cameras smile.gif

Hope the computer gremlins run away for a while at least. And while they are doing it they can take the virus (physical) that is hitting me today with them.

Sounds like next week will be nice though. If the weather stays the way it has been for the past four or five days you have more than a very good chance of snow up there. I would definitely bring those snow shoes tongue.gif

Hello everyone, I thought it would be nice to crawl out of my own thread to start mingling.

My day was spent pretty much outdoor by the beach, cycling. We were lucky, given that the national holiday had no interruptions of heavy rains as what had happened over the past few days. It is something we always look forward to during an off-day. Pretty good, I hope the salad I made with Red Kellys would taste great.

But it will be back to the dreary 8-5 routine tomorrow once again. TGIF!

Gremlins are a state sponsored crappy IT system that is way over budget and just a waste of tax payers money (as usual)

Hope your personal virus is moving on to someone else

Yes, it is a hard call whether to bring them. They are really designed for a good snow cover, not just patchy bits. Think I might throw them on the pack, would be great doing the Overland Track "off track"

Best of luck with the trip and the walk Frank. First day without rain in the west for just over a week today, so I hope the weather is kind to you. Look forward to reading about your adventure when you return.

Today I have camera bubbles smile.gif We just bought a new panasonic Lumix FZ-18 camera. 8.1 Mp, 18x optical zoom, and the capacity to shoot in RAW mode, which we have really been looking forward to playing with.

Would have loved to upgrade to DSLR, but when we considered how much we would need to spend to buy the kinds of lenses we would want/need, the cost was way beyond our means. We are more than happy to upgrade to this camera, and the experience we have had so far with the FZ-20 has been good, so this is definitely a step forward to more fun.

Now we just have to wait for the platypus, echidna, or camel train to drag the kit over the ranges to the west coast. Hopefully we will have the camera very early next week.
