Day 2 ? Thursday 24/04/08

We Left the Lufra Hotel at 8.15am the weather is fine and it is an absolute beautiful day, leaving to catch a boat trip that we have booked at Port Arthur.

On the way to our boat trip we stopped off to walk down to Remarkable Cave.[attachment=962:Day_2___..._006.Red.jpg][attachment=963:Day_2___..._013.Red.jpg]
Well worth the walk and very good viewing. We were there on a low tide. I imagine it would take on a totally different appearance with the varying tide levels. We wanted to go to Patterson's Lookout but it was closed, more than likely due to the controlled burning that was taking place. Cathy bought a Tasmanian fleecy lined jacket for the boat trip and it was well worth the money spent, I thought it was quite reasonable at $65.00

We grabbed a quick breakfast at the General Store next to the booking office for the boat trip. The Tasman Boat Cruise cost us $100.00 each. They put us on a bus to Eaglehawk Neck then a three hour cruise to Port Arthur. The cruise was fantastic. The weather was perfect and so we got to do a lot we nosed into caves that are not always accessible. We saw and smelt the seals.

We gained access to views that we would not have been able to take in of the Tasman Arch,

Devils Kitchen and numerous other caves.

We circumnavigated Tasman Island.

When we arrived back from our cruise we headed for a cafe that was straight across from where we booked our cruise. The food was good but it was much overpriced. We wouldn't go back there.

We finished our afternoon by taking in Port Arthur Historical Village. We did a short tour to gain a bit of knowledge about the history that cost $28.00 then we went our own way.

We decided to stay for the ghost tour that was on at 8.30 so we had a sea food basket $17.50 and we did the ghost tour $20.00, where Cathy was picked to be a lantern holder. It was all a bit of fun.

By 10.10pm we went back to the Lufra Hotel where we fell into bed and decided that it had been another wonderful day. The km reading was 17990.

Great post and photo's. Thanks for sharing. You describe your experiences very well and make me almost feel as though I am there. Two days, and already it seems you have packed a lot of great times that you will remember for ages to come.

Its an awesome view of the Arch, Paul. Cool shot. I have seen this view myself when I went scuba diving in the area.

Sounds like you and your other half have had a great time so far and you have only been here for 2 days. Looking forward to your next entry.
