Day 10 Tasmanian holiday
Left Strahan Village accommodation at 7.30am booked our tickets on the Lady Jane Franklin 11 then we had Breakfast at the Bakery.
We boarded the lady Jane Franklin 11 at 8.30 and got some great photo shots of Strahan from the top deck. As we left the dock it was fine but cloudy. The cruise took us out into Macquarie Harbour and out to the heads where it started raining. We then headed towards the Gordon River past some fish farms. They were feeding them at the time so it was quite interesting to watch. We cruised up the beautiful Gordon River, had a short walk at Heritage Landing then turned around and visited the Sarah Island Penal Settlement. We were very fortunate that the rain stopped as we pulled up at the island. We were on the upper deck front seats right behind the captain. The whole trip we were treated like royalty and we could enjoy fine food and wines as much as we wanted for the entire trip. It was a great trip even with the rain. The cruise ended at 2.30pm
We left Strahan with our car registering a 20026km reading and we headed back to Queenstown as we didn?t get to see much the previous day as it was getting dark when we passed through and we needed to get to Strahan .It is raining in Queens town, I have convinced myself that we were not supposed to see Queenstown. We will have to be happy with our memories of what we did get to see. We drove on to Zeehan and that is where we stayed for the night in a hotel/motel. Keno was very kind to us that night, it payed for our cruise and accommodation. Thanks Mr Keno.

Sounds like the rain stuck around for you while you were here. I think you might need to come back in the ry season to see a bit more.
Mr keno can be very good at times, well done.
Thanks for sharing.

Queenstown is worth seeing for the absolute contrast in landscapes compared to the remainder of the west coast, but not my fav location in the region.
We do have a dry season here, during the second half of summer, but sounds like you had typical weather for your visit.
What's your secret with keno?

The secret to getting what you want, is to want what you need

The weather wasn't all that kind to us on the West Coast and we did miss seeing some areas, but our thoughts were not to sit around waiting for it to stop but keep going. By doing this we missed some things but it gave us time to do other things we hadn't planned. The rain also brings out the beauty in some features so all is not lost. Besides we need to leave something to see next time. Keno, well what can I say, I think it is called luck. i always stick to the same numbers, 1,2,3,4,5. Always looks good when it comes up.
