It is clear from many of the posts here that people often find a special passion for this little island we call home. It would be interesting to see a little deeper into what sparks such depth of feeling about Tasmania.

So, a question for you all, and hopefully we can encourage a number of people, visiotrs and residents alike, to answer, and help showcase the special aspects of Tasmania.

What is your most memorable moment in Tasmania? It could be a special location, a scene, an experience, anything. Describe, in as much detail as you like, what the most special experience you have had here is.

For me, it is a very difficult choice. There have just been so many things that I have experienced here that arouse and stir me. But, perhaps, it was a night spent down near Cockle Creek. I awoke in the middle of the night to answer the call of nature and as I wandered outside the tent, on a moonless night, I could not help but notice that once my eyes had adjusted I could see quite clearly, it was as though there were a full moon shining down and lighting the landscape. When I turned my eyes skyward I became totally awe struck by the sheer number of stars that were visible in the sky. It was as though the sky was covered in a shimmering blanket of bright light. No moon, just stars.

That night always remains firmly fixed in my mind as one of the most spectacular sights I have ever witnessed.

Don't be shy, and step up and share. What is your most memorable Tasmanian moment?

For me also it is a very difficult choice. The night that Anna mentions above is definitely one of my most memorable as well. I have been thinking over the last couple of days about this and I keep coming back to the day that I went scuba diving at Fortescue Bay.

It was a great day. For ages I had been wanting to see a Weedy Sea Dragon in the wild and I had my chance the day I went diving. The water was cold, about 11deg C from memory, but after I eventually got down I spent about 45 minutes floating around the kelp forest and watching these beautiful little creatures. Just swimming in the forests was amazing. It was like walking through a forest on land, the sun would break through breaks in the trees. There were many other species down there as well.

Seeing the underwater action in Tasmania is often thought of as silly by most people who haven't dived here but I think it is an awesome experience and one worth doing, even if you only do it once.

You can see a picture and read a little bit about the dive here
