Hi All,

I would like to bring to your attention the plight of the much beloved Tasmanian Devil.

As we know it, these little fellas may not be around much longer because of contageous mouth cancer.

If you have ever seen Devils eat you would understand that, apart from atrocious table manners, they can easy wound each other during their little feeding frenzies. This cancer is spread from animal to animal rapidly and has been decimating the species over the couple of years.

The Devil is a nocteral animal which eats carrion (or dead animals) and is an important part of the eco system. Think of them as a mini scrap disposal unit (that makes a hell of a racket). They are slow runners and can hardly see, but their sense of smell is extraordinary and they have adapted to this role in the Tasmanian forest in this specialist role.
Apart from that they are an icon and there are not too many animals which can boost having been made into a classic cartoon character.

I was lucky to have seen this animal and took some photos when i was in Tasmania and these some of these photos are now being used to highten the awareness of the Devils plight.

If you are in the position to help, i would strongly suggest getting behind the cause in anyway posible. It is easy to do, just search the internet and you will find people that will accept your support.

Don't let this animal become something in the future that we can only refer to in pictures.

Cheers Neil

Good stuff, and a very worthwhile cause. We lose far too many species, let's try and save this one from extinction. More information can be found through the official site, or by clicking the save the devil banner above.
