Ho MURALY :-)

Like most places in the world there is crime in Tasmania, there is no place without crime. I think though that Tasmania has less crime than most places, although I could be wrong. Tasmania, I think, Is a relatively quiet place where most people will just live in cohesion with each other, we are very laid back and relaxed :-).

Just take a look at Tassie, that's all I can say. It is an awesome place.

Is it the right forum to ask questions ?

Dear Margie,

I head Hobart is a very nice place and comparetively the crime rate is low than other states.

Is it a righ place for 2 kids age 9 and 4. How about standard of edcuation in the schools?. Can you tell us what are good schools in the regions.

Cost of living is higher than Melbourne?

How is the job opportunity in Tass and how much scope for IT.

Appreciate your prompt response. thanks

Hi Muraly,

I think Hobart would be a nice place to bring up kids, well anywhere in Tasmania actually. I don't really know much about education, maybe one of the other members will be able to help out there. I did a bit of a search though and found a couple of links which you may find interesting.

This first one is the Schools Improvement Report...http://schoolimprovement.education.tas.gov.au/

This next one is the Tasmanian Education department website...http://www.education.tas.gov.au/

Cost of living would be about equal to Melbourne. Houses are cheaper than the mainland, both to buy and rent. When we lived in Hobart the price of fuel was a few cents dearer than the mainland. Some food items may cost a little bit more, that is because it is imported. The fruit which is grown locally is very delicious.

Hope this helps a little biggrin.gif
