Doras can be busy over xmas, with lots of families. Unless you get hoons with motorbikes though it can still be reasonably peaceful due to the layout of the sites. I have stayed here over xmas twice and enjoyed both times. If you can get the very last site at the end of the road, you will definitely still have reasonable privacy. Also there are numerous walks that can take you away from the family groups who tend to use the beaches on the edge of the grounds, rather than wander a little up the track.
In the same area you will find Sloop Reef, much smaller, though can get extremely windy. Slightly further north into the Bay of Fires is Policeman's Point. This tends not to be so popular with families because it is miles from the nearest stores, and has no facilities. Damn nice spot though.
Most of the campgrounds around St Helens fill up over xmas.
Noticed your other post asking about Mathers Campgrounds. Not sure about that one at xmas, have not been there. Stayed at nearby Petal Point around xmas, and it was reasonably quiet, though the locals use the beach a lot on weekends. It was also much hotter up this corner than the rest of the state at that time. Actually headed south in order to escape the heat last time I stayed there.
Top Camp, near Poole, is very quiet most times of the year.
Do you have a 4wd, and are you only thinking east coast?

The secret to getting what you want, is to want what you need
