Congratulations once again to Anthony (bandi) for his great shot that took out the Cup last month.
Best of luck to all who enter for this month.

Anna, Your shot of the pelican is seriously beautiful! It really jumps off the screen aganst that black backgroud.
Breggs, That perspective is unreal! Not sure how comfortable I would have been leaning over the edge there
Tessc, Makes me want to jump on in to the water there! I've also just found your blog and look forward to reading about your adventures!
Photogra, Love that classic view. The lake looks amazing

The pelican does really jump out at you Anna. The black background and the black on the pelican make for a startling image.
Breggs you are more game than I. No way I would have leaned over that wall for the long drop shot.
I love the colours in your photo, Photogra. We live in the most beautiful place to get so many different views of the lake at different times of the year.

Breggs, do you know if they still do the abseiling down the face of that dam? Not that I am likely to be brave enough to actually jump over that wall, it certainly is a long drop.

I don't remember the lean out being all that scary, though you can feel a bit funny in the head trying to make sense of where you are. As I noted - the point I was standing on is directly over the bullseye marked on the ground below.
If they have/do abseil from this place, they will not be walking down the wall - as they are suspended away from it the whole way down. So no - I don't know if they do it.
What is obvious is that the small interpretive centre above the wall [where the car park is] was not open. I think the notice said it was going to be redeveloped - possibly relocated??
But I have been there at least 3 times - and the way the facilities have been removed or left abandoned over time has been obvious. First visit - there was a caravan park and general store at Strathgordon - now all buildings gone and the roads ploughed up to let the bush regrow. Second visit we did the power station tour - it was not running last time we were there. We also learned after our last visit that the motel was closing down - no more accomodation or meals - though I believe they will still be providing petrol.
As for the photo - this was a vertical panorama stitch of 3 photos. The view is so big its hard to get that all in the one photo - even with my wide angle setting.

There is only 6 more days to get your entries in. At the moment we only have 5 entries...for the cup to be given away we need to get at least 5 more. So go out and tell all your friends about the comp and get them involved...it is a very cool trophy...

It wasn't until some time after that I discovered the railcar wasn't for tours, it was for maintenance...
Don't do what I did, boys & girls, I was young(er) and stupid(er).
I remember working out how many trillion tonnes of water was on the other side of the dam wall and reflecting on that after I had done my little journey of a million steps.
Thanks for the memories.

Whilst I only ever intended this rule to mean that one should hold the copyright over the image, my entry does technically breach the first part of that rule as it stands.
As a result, we currently only have 8 entries for this month, with just over 30 minutes until the deadline. If we do not receive another two entries before then all entries will be held over and continue through to the end of next month.
