A new year has started and I am determined that this time I will actually manage to complete the challenge of a weekly shot for the full year.

For week 1 I am using a shot I captured yesterday down at Trial Harbour. I managed to borrow Shane's Pentax to capture this. The more I see of what he is achieving with this camera (and the more I am able to steal it away from him) the more I like it. Luckily I will have my own in a few weeks

Week 1 - Trial Harbour

bandi...I'm almost finished my second time through and have loved getting out to shoot something at least once a week, definitely a great way to get inspired.

Thanks Anthony. Take up the challenge, the shots do not have to be in Tasmania if you don't live here. Counting down the days until I get my new toy, and I don't think I am going to need a great deal of motivation after that (just a whole lot of spare cash for lenses )

Week 2

Again I waited until Shane was not looking then sneakily stole away for a while with his camera to capture the clouds once more. Captured this shot as the sun was setting earlier and I really liked the light that was hitting this patch amid the gloomy rain clouds at sunset.

Love the way his camera grabs the detail in clouds (and most other things). Thanks to Shane for letting me use it while I wait for my own to arrive

Week 3

Waiting for the delivery of my new DSLR I decided to take the FZ18 out for one final walk.

The local Buddhist temple has these lovely Fuchsia's growing outside.

Hopefully by next week I will have my new Pentax and the lenses I have bought so far. I am not very good at being patient...so hurry up and get here dammit

Week 4

This week my new toy finally arrived, and the lenses have been creeping in as well

I was a touch frustrated previously with the limitations of the camera I had been using, and not quite so motivated to get out and shoot. The Pentax has definitely changed all of that I am happy to say

So many shots taken over the past few days, and no doubt there will be a lot more before the week is out, so it is hard choosing something to post for this week. This one was taken as the sun set earlier this evening. Looking across the west coast ranges, it is made up of three frames stitched together.

Week 5

This week has involved a lot of running back & forth between Rosebery & Queenstown, getting ready to move house. (Which is how I will be spending the rest of this weekend, not my idea of fun).

Difficult to choose just one shot for this week...

Week 6

This week I have been exploring my new environment, and getting my house sorted out. I think I managed to get everything I have brought over so far put away, and got things set up the way I want them, for now. Damn I hate moving house!

Yesterday I posted a few shots from one of my local wanders in the thread here

Have also been playing around with some of the features of my new camera, especially multiple exposures, and trying to create an Orton Effect, which is not easy to do outside of photoshop. This is one of my first attempts.

Not quite enough blur in the second exposure of that one, but I will keep practicing.

Anyone who has been through Queenstown, knows it is dominated by Mt Owen, which the locals refer to as our own version of Uluru as it can undergo dramatic colour changes according to the lighting conditions. A subtle colour in this one.

And, my final shot is a house situated just down the hill from me. Quite a cute little cottage.

Thanks again Shane. definitely need to play with the Orton effect. It is just so damn finicky to set up the exposures.

Week 7

Been a bit all over the west during this past week, exploring the local town a little more and also over at Rosebery and down to Montezuma Falls. Am currently waiting for a new modem to arrive so I can get back on broadband, so a few pics here for now, and will post some more in other parts of the site once broadband is up and running for me.

Week 8

Tied up with lots of stuff this week, but did manage to play around a little with my camera.

First shot is another attempt at the Orton Effect. This shot uses a double exposure with both frames shot indoors under very low natural light. Exposure time on each of the frames was 8 seconds.

This next shot is taken in Queenstown, looking across the ranges towards Strahan. Nice when the Sun & Moon decide to set at the same time
