Am expecting to take delivery of a new DSLR in the next couple of days and this was one of the walks I wanted to do once I did. Should also be able to get there myself and meet you at the start as I am fairly certain I could convince Shane to do this as well.
When would you be thinking of doing this?

Looking ahead , either of the first 2 weekends in Feb would be suitable for me. I have to go to Hobart shortly , but am free after that. However have other committments later in Feb. Either the Saturday or Sunday suits me. Weather permitting etc of course. More the merrier as well of course. Cheers Chris.

Shane and I have done this one before, but would happily do it again, took us about 5-6 hours last time. 95% of the track never gets sun so bring something warm even if it is 35 degrees. Also you will need to wear waterproof footwear as most of the track is rather soggy.
Your book probably told you that the track follows the old railway line. Not a lot left to show for it except for a some sleepers embedded in the track and an interesting old bridge slowly being reclaimed by the forest. There are a few interesting signs along the way telling the story of the old railway.
