Are there any people interested in doing mainly day walks around Tasmania . Not hard core ones . Perhaps suit middle aged people or those with limited time . smile.gif

Any area really because although i'm based in the north west , i travel to other areas frequently. The main thing is when a walk is proposed , juggling other commitments , times etc to do it. I have got walking buddies but they have moved to WA .

I could be interested, though I can't handle anything too strenuous, and I am about to find myself without transport (long story). Based in Rosebery.

Thanks Anna , yes i'm already a member of Bushwalking Tas and have been on walks with members..The last one was. Just that most there are what i call hard core walkers ..doing extended trips through tough tracks etc.not really interested in easier walks. Perhaps an opener could be the Montezuma Falls ,,i havn't been there as yet. Cheers Chris.

Yep, thought that might be the case Chris, but suggested it anyway. Montezuma sounds great to me, though I have to warn you it can take me 2 hours to walk the first few hundred metres unless I get prodded (so many fungus to photograph).

Am expecting to take delivery of a new DSLR in the next couple of days and this was one of the walks I wanted to do once I did. Should also be able to get there myself and meet you at the start as I am fairly certain I could convince Shane to do this as well.

When would you be thinking of doing this?

Thats fine by me if we take our time , may as well enjoy the whole area rather than just walk in and walk out. According to my walk book , the track is just 6ks return and takes 2-3 hours , so plenty of time to fossick around. I'm also a bit of a history buff and trainoholic (if there is such a word) smile.gif , and i know there is history of both in the area.
Looking ahead , either of the first 2 weekends in Feb would be suitable for me. I have to go to Hobart shortly , but am free after that. However have other committments later in Feb. Either the Saturday or Sunday suits me. Weather permitting etc of course. More the merrier as well of course. Cheers Chris.

Those dates work for me Chris. Knowing the west coast weather it would probably be best to set maybe dates that would be confirmed a few days out once we knew what kind of lows were headed this way.

Shane and I have done this one before, but would happily do it again, took us about 5-6 hours last time. 95% of the track never gets sun so bring something warm even if it is 35 degrees. Also you will need to wear waterproof footwear as most of the track is rather soggy.

Your book probably told you that the track follows the old railway line. Not a lot left to show for it except for a some sleepers embedded in the track and an interesting old bridge slowly being reclaimed by the forest. There are a few interesting signs along the way telling the story of the old railway.

Can do from both Shane & I, maybe have another person lined up too, but would prefer the following weekend as I am moving house a week before that.

7th can be done weather permitting though.

Ok , stick with the 7th ..see how it lines up as we get closer . Maybe another person with me as well , and they and I were interested in riding the Wee Georgie on return . It runs on the 7th but not again until alter in the month . Which is worse , moving house or painting ? lol .. Cheers Chris.

OK all should be good for the 7th and I will probably spend the night before here in Rosebery.

Would rather paint than move anyday...I hate moving house sad.gif

Sorry to be a nuisance Anna , but could we possibly change the date to the 14th Feb as you mentioned. Just that the person coming with me can't come on the 7th. Think you mentioned the 14th would be more suitable for you anyway. Thanks Chris.
