Hi everyone

I'm new here as you can tell and I'm hoping to be able to read heaps and learn more about Tasmania as my husband and I are thinking of moving down.
I am always blown away when I see the ads of Tassie on TV of how much they remind me of home. I always think I am watching the same country smile.gif

I miss fires, and warm clothes and being able to have loads of blankets on the bed - haha who would have ever thought. I'm obviously not suited to the tropics lol

Hope to chat more with some of you soon smile.gif

Hi & welcome.

As i said to someone recently...ahhh Tasmania, 36 degrees one day... sitting in front of the fire the next LOL.

We do get some warmer days, but not too many. I am another one who cannot stand the heat and have lived in tropical places. Tassie has a nice blend, and if you walk the beaches, even if the water is too freezing to swim in, the colours remind you of the tropics anyway.

Look forward to getting to know you better.

haha yes have seen the rather high temps down your way lately. So still get a bit of a feel for a nice hot day then smile.gif

Just being able to swim in summer is a bonus lol - so not used to stingers etc stopping my summer cooling off, can you tell i'm not a FNQ local heh

Off for some more searching and reading

Thanks for popping in to say hi

hey Guys smile.gif

Tassie is an amazing place...that variability just blows me away. Check out the site...see what it has to offer, ask questions... you never know we may be able to point you to places that are sort of tropical, I mean warm, and some others as well smile.gif

Welcome to the forum from a Taswegian who is selling up and moving to the mainland lol. We've spent all our lives here and love the lifestyle but itchy feet have us wanting to travel for a few years.

Know that feeling Steph, hardly stayed in one place long enough to unpack when I was younger, but I have Gypsy blood so that's my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Noticed elsewhere you posted that when you move you are planning on bringing a houseload of furniture down? If so you may be better off checking the rates for a container to be shipped down. Have had a couple of people posting here about doing so from Perth and the cost was very reasonable.

Ahh cool - will have to look into it. Thanks for the heads up

Bit annoying the whole shipping thing, most of our stuff is relatively new from when we got to Cairns so it's not really worth getting rid of and starting again which would be easier but then again depending on the cost of shipping it may be just as easy to sell up and buy again

Hoping to get a few quotes to find out.
