I've been checking out all the posts on campgrounds, they seem very helpful. We have 3-4 weeks to explore, arriving on 18th March (if we get through the Qld floods!) and am hoping the long range forecast of rain is wrong! We love remote camping and are self sufficient, and are so looking forward to cooler weather!

Ho Alison,
Welcome to Real Tas and I hope you have a great time here. Look forward to seeing you around
The long range forecast could be right. On the west coast we are just about to start our rainy season, but that doesn't mean that there won't be dry days
The weather down her is so changeable. One minute it could be warm with blue skies and no clouds, the next it might be snowing, and yes it does happen that fast. This time of year the east coast is drier than the west, but don't let the rain stop you coming...lots of fun to be had in the rain on the west coast.
Hope this helps.

Welcome. As Shane said above, the weather can change here very quickly. They say that in Melbourne you can have four seasons in one day... down here you can have them in 10 minutes.
Just starting to get a little rain here in the west after an unusually dry summer, but it does not normally kick in fully until around the end of this month. You should be able to have enough of the dry stuff to enjoy your time.
Please come back when you return home and let us know about the places you camp at.
