Well, I know they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but, I'm thinking one would need a pretty good imagination to see any potential in that other than firewood! smile.gif

Interesting shot... has that hillside in the background been clear-felled?

Natalie

My second week of the Challenge. Gee, I've got a long way to go. Am off to the Mainland for about a month so may post some from over there.
This image is of the abandoned tin mine in Derby, I find quite intriguing. It is across the Ringarooma River from the town, on private land therefore inaccessible. This is just a tantalizing gimpse through the trees of what, in its heyday, was a thriving mine, judging from the early photos of Derby. Perhaps one day... I might get closer. Here I used my big 70-300mm lens. I shoot with an Olympus E 520, a nice light little DSLR, though when I put on the 3oo, it gets much heavier.

Nice shot Di. definitely looks like that mine site could be an interesting place to explore. We have a number of old abandoned mining sites over this way and they can throw up a lot of curious little sights to photograph.

Thanks all for your visits folks. I reckon a carton of beer sounds a goer. Will drink it and forget about the tin mine lol

I keep looking at it when we drive by to the farm gate. I often wonder why these old buildings are left to just rot away. I would enclose it and have some chooks in there. At least the photographers love it!

Oops I missed This one earlier Di. Aren't there a lot of things to look at over the other side of the river. One day we will all have to get together and get organised and explore the old tin mine site. It has been flooded, so there will be lots of photo ops available.
