Over the past couple of years, we know this site has helped hundreds, if not thousands of people to enjoy their Tasmanian experiences better. All this has always been provided free of charge in a totally non commercial environment so that the advice people receive is not tainted by profit motives, but aimed to helping people receive the best experience they possibly can of our unique part of paradise.

Shane & I have usually maintained the running costs out of our own pocket, and luckily, that is not usually a great burden, though, with him as a student on Austudy, and me surviving on a pension, it does sometimes get tricky, especially when we need to make major site changes and upgrades.

Right now we are seeing that a number of users are having problems, and part of the reason for this is that the software version of the forum we are using is now long out of date, and not keeping up with changes to our base coding system. Unfortunately this means we are getting to a time where we need to upgrade our software and the website.

The down side of this is that although our current license to use this software is valid, we are no longer entitled to update the software, and will need to spend money to do so. Right now we are looking at a cost of $150USD to bring the site up to date.

Time to go cap in hand and ask that those of you who have found this website to have provided you with information and assistance that has made your Tasmanian experience more enjoyable, help us out a little. You will notice we have now placed a donation button at the top of pages, and we ask that you make use of it, even in the smallest of amounts. Every cent is appreciated, and will help us to continue to ensure this site exists in its current format for a long time to come.

We both wish to thank all of those who have been exceptionally generous in the past. The support of our membership is what keeps us alive.

OK we have two fantastic members who have supported this current drive, and we do hope that others will take up their lead. These people have been great, and we do appreciate ti, but we still have a long way to go to reach our target.

I am very touched by the generosity shown so far, and I really hope that others will also help us out.

Thanks again Dave. The site is till functioning well for 98% of people, though I would like to get the upgrade done to clean a few things up a bit and make it fully functional. As I will most likely be covering the bulk of the cost out of my own pocket, it is unlikely anything will be done for at least the next 4 weeks or so, as long as no emergencies come up in the meantime.

That's very kind of you Dave. I understand fully what you are getting at, but it never ceases to amaze me that people love this site, and really appreciate the advice and information that they get here, but whenever we ask for a bit of help with the running costs, it is usually only a couple of people who will help out. Eventually this site will be forced to become commercialised to ensure running costs are met, and I bet we will then receive complaints over the amount of advertising and paid material is present.
